You may be asking, “When is the best time to have a child’s first visit to the dentist?” A child’s first dental visit can bring with it trepidation and fear. To help our young patients feel comfortable and at ease with us, we have a Fist Visit that includes some things that will make for a positive experience.

Meeting the Dentist & Team
To help children get acquainted with not only the dentist, but their environment, we will get to know them and vice versa. At Zicherman, Lago, and Associates, PC, when young children come in for the first time, we greet them with a warm and welcoming smile. We allow our patients to be with them for the whole visit, so they feel safe. is have them meet our dentist and dental team. The brief visit includes a thorough examination, as well as a tour around the dental practice. We show the children treatment rooms, equipment, and entertainment.

Time to Review
At this first visit, you can also speak to Dr. Federico Lago about concerns or ask questions. These topics may include:

– Decay and cavity prevention
– Teething
– Oral habits, Oral hygiene and routines
– Fluoride treatment
– Issues with tongue thrusting, thumb sucking, and sleeping with a bottle
– Genetic issues or conditions

Steps for a Positive Experience
Our goals is to ensure all our patients feel comfortable and safe coming to our dental office. The best time to arrive is in the morning, usually after a morning nap or after they first wake up. If the child is old enough to understand, tell them where you are going and what to expect. If the child is hungry, feed them first. Also, ensure you will be there the whole time.

This is a good time to also review proper nutrition with Dr. Federico Lago, to ensure your little ones’ teeth and gums are in tiptop shape for years to come.
