Your dentures are made of strong material. Nevertheless, they are not indestructible. You do need to take care of them if you want them to last.

You should clean your dentures at least once a day. When you do clean them, do so over a sink full of water, or a towel. That way, if you happen to drop them, there is less of a chance that they will break. Your dentures need to be kept moist in order for them to retain their shape. What’s more, you should not wear them to bed, or keep them in for 24 hours a day. When you do take them out, you should place them in a soaking solution to help clean them, and to keep them moist. The shape of your mouth will change over time. As a result, your dentures may not fit properly after a while, and they may warp or break. Regular visits with your dentist will give him the chance to examine your mouth and your dentures to see if they need to be replaced or adjusted.

If you do break your dentures, do not try to repair them on your own. You may be tempted to reach for the glue, but the adhesives found around your house or in retail outlets may contain toxic chemicals which can be dangerous for your, or they may not be suitable for repairing your dentures. Only your dentist can repair, adjust, and if necessary replace your dentures.
